Day 199

movie: The Incredible Hulk
starring: Edward Norton, Tim Roth
genre: Sci-fi, Action, Drama,
year: 2008
format: TV EDIT

plot: After being exposed to gamma radiation, a scientist goes into hiding. Five years later, there is an accident in the bottle factory where he works, and some of his blood ends up contaminating one of the bottles. This causes his location to be found out, and he ends up back on the run. Soon, he's faced with his inner demons and another solider who now has the same thing happening to him.

What do you want me to say about this one?  It just doesn't work, and I don't think it had anything to do with it being a tv edit either.
There is just something missing in the overall story here.  It gets confusing and feels like it's catering to an inside joke.  Maybe it is?

I loved the old tv show, and there were a few moments when I laughed out loud just because of the cameos, but I felt the biggest downfall of this version of the Hulk stories was the fact the Hulk himself was digital.  This is one time when they really should have stuck to the original idea, and had a second actor to play the 'monster' side.   Much like the Van Helsing film that came out  a few years before, with it's digital version of Hyde (and come on lets call the Incredible Hulk what it is, a very clever version of Jekyll and Hyde) it just took away from the over all creepiness of it and made it laughable.

what do i think i learned from this film?
Sometimes we need to face the inner demon straight on and other times, we need to keep it within.
