Warp Speed

Movie: Star Trek Into Darkness (ST 12)

Where: Cinema

Reason for seeing it: STAR TREK!

I've been waiting for this movie now for a year since I first heard about it. After missing a few movies the other month because of health and schedules, it seemed like the stars aligned to let me see this one, and damn was it worth it!

SPOILER ALERT

I don't usually give anything that might be considered spoilers, but I have to talk about the fact this is their "alternate reality version of Wrath of Khan"  and that they pretty much made Khan a vampire. Not in the usual fangs and coffins sense, but they made him 300 years old and able to regenerate, super human strength and speed and extremely pale.  Yeah, he's an indestructible vampire. Bonus, he was played by BBC's Sherlock lead Benedict Cumberbatch.  Love this guy!

ALERT DONE

I will give you one scene, Kirk is about to go on an away mission, and we see two unnamed red shirts about to go with him, and he hands them different uniforms, I believe this is the first time an unnamed red shirt on an away mission comes back alive, and does not die.

Klingons are introduced, and we are given subtitles for the one scene. Personally, I can not wait to see how they handle the next one!

Coffee Talk Sunday May 19th

Not much going on this week, as you can tell from the lack of blogging.   Tonight, it's a stay at home night cause, Extreme Rules  pay-per-view is on.  Yes, it's that time of the month when WWE has it's ppv, so I'll be watching that.

Tomorrow, however, is Star Trek day.  For me anyways, as I'm planning on going to the cinema to see the new film.

Which brings me to my next topic... I guess movie club is on hold given the lack of interest.  I don't know if I'm just not picking stuff people want to see, or if it's the schedule or well, just me... but another sign up deadline has come and gone and well... yeah.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday anyway.

Thursday May 16th- Coffee Talk

Star Trek into Darkness,    Opens here this weekend.  I'm going Monday May 20th.  There are a bunch of matinees, because it's long weekend here in Canada.

If anyone in the Thunder Bay area is interested in going with me for movie club, leave me a comment. There are six matinee showings to pick from, half are 3D.

Let me know on here by Noon Sunday if you want to be part of the local  movie club for this movie.

Just random May 13th

I haven't really been doing much the last few weeks when it comes to blogging or movies.
I got hooked few weeks back on the show Hemlock Grove, on Netflix Canada. All I can say, is if you haven't seen it yet, you really should check it out. It's a Netflix original.

Missed about five movies at the cinema because of weather and my health.  But, I am really looking forward to Star Trek Into Darkness. Think I mentioned that the other day.

This week, I managed to get my head out of my arse long enough to watch the From Dusk till Dawn trilogy, for the vampire year project.
This year, the movie project has been slow going with many interruptions. Which, I suppose is a good thing, given the reason it was so successful last year was because I was stuck home with a shattered knee. There wasn't anything else for me to do while I was recovering from the surgeries.
This year, starting to have a small bit of a life again, so yay me.  But hence the poor showing on the second year of the movie project.

I really have nothing new to talk about, just thought I'd come in and write a post just to say hey to any readers still checking in....hey.

Should be a movie club posting this week. And I'll be back either tomorrow or the day after with info for the local movie club for the Star Trek get together. As soon as I have the movie schedule.

Friday may 10th

There was no vampire movie club last week at all, nor do I think I'll be getting one before tomorrow night done.
I know, I've let a bunch of readers down. Sorry, but my mind has been elsewhere.

With that said,  Star Trek Into Darkness opens next week in Canada.  I'm fairly sure we're getting it, so I am planning on going to see it.   I'll post mid-week when I know what the movie times of it are, if anyone in the Thunder Bay area is interested is joining me for local movie club.

What that movie inspired me to do # 8

You may remember me talking about the movie Casserole Club few months ago. (here dude here)

And you might have noticed I like casseroles. So, I thought in honor of the bad no-time-no-effort-no-taste casseroles that make an appearance in the film, I'd create one of my own.

This took about a half hour total.

Ingredients

1 medium onion chopped corsely
1 medium green pepper chopped corsely
1 cup blanched broccoli chopped corsely
2 packages of Knorr White Cheddar and Broccoli Sidekicks
2 cups water
2 cups milk
1 and a half tablespoons butter
salt and pepper for taste

Baked at 375 degree

Okay, so it tasted better then it ended up looking.   And you know what, I seem to have a knack for everything turning out the same style.  This is like the fourth casserole I've made recently that looked like this. I think I need to start using something other then broccoli.

Till later.
